Announcing the Legacy of Letters 2003 Tour:
The
Legacy of Letters Tour Program resumes in the fall of 2003 with a return to our foundation
Rome tour for 6 days and an optional 4-day supplement to the Bay of Naples to see the
archeological treasures of Pompeii & Herculaneum, the unique beauty of the Amalfi
coast, and colorful & diverse Naples. Led by Professor Michael Twyman and lettering
historian Garrett Boge the tour will introduce participants to the marvelously rich
heritage of Roman inscriptions along with Italian art, architecture and culture that has
defined Western civilization.
A
combination vacation/study tour, Legacy of Letters continues its program of bringing
together creative professionals for inspiration and immersion into the art, history and
culture that has given rise to roman lettering in its rich and varied forms. The itinerary
is structured to educate as well as to provide recreation and free time for a refreshing
and stimulating break from career pressures in the company of fellow professionals and
design enthusiasts. Quoting from past participant, Stephen Garrett, former director of the
