Longhand-- a handwriting
font for the digital era
Longhand is a new original script font
from LetterPerfect which simulates handwriting. It was developed by designer Garrett Boge,
based on a legible and flowing writing hand. The design preserves an irregular soft
edge to the character shapes, suggesting a writing tool's contact on paper. At small sizes
this contributes subliminally to its handwritten effect; at large sizes this rough edge
becomes a distinctive design feature. The Longhand family offers two styles, simulating
two writing tools: Regular is lightly weighted to approximate a fine-point pen; Bold
suggests the heavier pressure and spread of a felt-tip pen. Together they offer a
versatile writing palette for today's digital communicator.
The fonts are carefully kerned and offered in both
PostScript and TrueType formats complete with full international character sets for both
Macintosh and Windows platforms. Included are 4 expressive-face dingbats, providing users
the same capability to smile, wink and scowl as popularized by email communications.
The Longhand Family is retail priced at $59, or $35 for a single style.
